Kim Nelson is the owner of Raina's Textile House (RTH), a studio atelier now located in the Anderson Arts Building (3rd floor) in Rochester, New York.  Raina's Textile House began in Berkeley, California - born from a furious love of felting and evolving to include curated sales of textiles from all over the world, and eventually focusing primarily on hat-making (men's) and millinery (women's). Kim explores surface design through dyeing with indigo, botanicals and rust on various fabrics, mostly wool, silk and cotton. She also practices nuno-felting, working wool fibers through silk fabric to adding texture to felt on hats, shawls, tunics, wallets etc.

Kim teaches a variety of wet-felting, dyeing and hat-making classes, please inquire at rainastextilehouse@gmail.com if you are interested.
Kim also teaches Professional Development classes in felting for groups utilizing the creative process to work on Team-Building.  She can structure workshops for 3 - 16 people where they work all together side by side, or in groups to practice working creatively in a new medium, the process of wet-felting. Often Team Building groups work together on one final piece.

After a cross country move in the Spring of 2019, Raina's Textile House found a new space in the Anderson Arts Building (3rd floor) at 250 Goodman St. in Rochester NY.  She will open the studio for First Friday (6-9 pm), and Second Saturdays (12-4pm) September - June.

Actually Kim will have a booth at the Clothesline Festival September 6th and 7th (2019) in Rochester, and so her studio will be closed that weekend!  Please find her at the Festival on the grounds of the Memorial Art Gallery, on Goodman and University in Rochester NY.
