The relevance of hats during a pandemic.

This is what I have mumbled over for months.  It changed too, my ideas about hats over the past year. At first of course, like so many, I made lots of masks.  Then I made a "house - hat."  I was concerned that many people would lose their housing after losing their jobs, and so the only home they would have would be themselves...and so I made a "house - hat" that would provide a little roof over their head.  It is a hand blocked open crown, with a burned in roof, indigo and walnut dyes, and embroidered flowers and light.
Later I made a hat that I wore to Black Lives Matter protests.
I have also made several special orders, and have appreciated people's interest.  Now I am working on some summer straws...
I was also inspired by my brother's birthday to make him an indigo fedora.  He is Dave Nelson of @nellysmagicmoments, (a surf and lifestyle photographer) and has a positive attitude (to say the least).  So the next to last photo in this post is the hat I made for him - I did a self portrait before I sent it off...and the final photo is a shot of my sister (in her indigo porkpie), my brother in his fedora, and his daughter -who so far doesn't wear hats!
